What production year would this be?

I have a B Farmall that has no serial number plate. However stamped on the side of the block behind the distributer is "FAR 134649" I understand that is the engine serial number and should be the same or very close to the tractor serial number. How do I tell what production year that is?

Thanks!

According to Guy Fay's data book the A and B did not have a M in the engine serial number prefix, yours is simply "FAB". Your engine serial is the same as the chassis serial. Several places have reproduction serial tags, should you want one.

Check some of the Castings, Most have a date code cast on them usually looking something like 10.10.T which would be Oct. 10, 1950. T=1950. N=45, O=45, P=46, Q=47. Your could have a year earlies in the casting date, but not a year later... Get it?

Using the serial number guide in the left column of this site it looks like your tractor's engine was built in 1945. It is possible that the tractor had the same serial number but is not guaranteed. BTW, the prefix on the number you provided is really FAB and may have a "M" behind it before the number signifying Motor number
