39-A starting problem

my 39 A is hard to start after it has warmed up and then shut off. Usually will start if I hand crank, but not with the starter. Mag Problem?? possibly the impulse going bad??

My '41-A was getting hard to start. I put new plugs, wires and cap on it. I also adjusted the valves shortly after. Adjusting the valves, hot, made a lot of difference, more than the plugs ect did.

Hi, I would not think so but maybe. Actually I would think it would be the other way around. When you hand crank the trip works to change the timing so it doesnt kick back . Then when it gets up to rpms the trip cintrifiguly kicks out so it not wearing parts and you dont need it then. Kind of basic answer.I would check the timing and tune up before taking the mag off.If you need more help Just email me .
