I am looking at a cub lo boy from the early seventies. It has a cutter deck and looks to be in good condition. It runs well and I am a mechanic by trade I checked it out and it looks OK. I heard a rumor these machine did not have enough power - is this true or false. Also what is a good price to pay for one? this guy is asking 3000.00

I have a 184 with a 5ft belly mower and it works great. As long as we don't let the grass get too deep it has no problem mowing it down. We mow about 4 acres and she just sings along. Gets lots of seat time in the summer. But $3,000 I agree is a lot too much. It'll be sitting at that guys place for a long time unless he is willing to negotiate.

$3000- is a bit (lot) steep. There are a lot of $1000.00 to $1500.00 tractors out there, in good to very good condition, with plenty of power. Mowers are reasonable - new or used. And you will still have a nice chunk of change left out of the $3000.00.
