Stirring the pot (paint) again

I know there will probably be some difference of opinion here, but here we go.

I have a "39" F-14 that I am restoring. I have seen the front rims painted red or silver. Which is proper?

The ones that I have are red and show no signs of silver underneath. That would lead me to believe they came red from the factory, or they may be replacement rims.

Thanks in advance.

Dan

Dan; The F-14 wheels were all red from the factory, however, some owners have been painting the outer rim next to the tire silver, so you have red inner wheel, silver outer...just as you see on "M" and "H" Farmalls, but the earlier "F" series mostly had red wheels. Hope this helps. LOL' Jim

Should the rear ones be silver?

I think I have a set of F-14 hubs and rims coming, but will have to wait a while to get the 40" tires. Until then will have to use H hubs and rims.

I've never owned an F-14, but I would expect M wheels to be a better fit on the axle?

The front rims are red. Any silver paint was custom added by someone else.
