I am looking to buy a disk and I have found a jd rw style 14' wheel disk. I have a super m and a 560d. How will these tractors handle this disk. The soil is pretty heavy clay. Thanks for the replys Scott

10 foot is max for the M, and 14 would be pushing the limit for the 560. A 12 foot would be the best match for it.

I think it would handle it power wise..... ..You might want to look into dual hubs and duals to put the power to the ground IMO.

14' is a little big. Tire size and weight are the biggest factors. An 8' or 10' is a better match. Also newer disks pull harder than old disks. Larger blades and sharper cutting angles.

Scotty: I agree with captain, in some conditions the 560 will handle the 14 feet. There are more situations where it will not than will. In fact I had a 12' disk that would stop a 560 anywhere. A good disk will require 1.25 hp per blade, and weight added to the tractor, to go with it.

I had a JD BW 13’ 9” disk (which is a fairly light disk) that I pulled with a 560 gas tractor. In corn stalks it worked fine in third gear (which had the heavy tillage third gear) but in plowed ground it was too much of a load for it. Where I live we have a silty loam soil primarily with some clay subsoil. I would think that a 560D with the heavy tillage third gear would handle it a bit better. If it has the faster third gear, you might have some issues in the softer soils.

Hope this helps.
