I am getting water in the differential/tranny of my H? I know it isn't condensation because of the amount,a pint or more after a rain. And also I am not running it. It is sitting outside while i am doing the restoration of all the components. Where is it getting in there? From the top cover bolt holes? The bolts are all in and snug.Is there a way to seal them? I doubt it is coming in "sideways" from the top cover. Where else is the compartment vented? Where water could enter.

OK, Thanks. I went to the local salvage yards and scoped out the 4wd vehicles for a shift boot. Got one off a Samurai, and it slips right over the lever and sits flush on the top cover...

It will also run in around some of the bolts that hold the transmission cover down. You can drain the water by letting it set for several days and then loosen the drain plug, but don't take it out, and the water will drip out.

It's going in past the shift lever, fairly common for this to happen. Tie a plastic bag around it.
