Hello, I saw a post by Brian in NY about putting a more modern seat on his H. I also would like to do the same thing on my tractor, but saw almost no response to Brian's post. I would like to know if it is possible to mount one of the universal seats with shock mechanism built in. As I am getting up in years I want to keep my tractor but need more comfort and like this style seat. Please help! I use my tractor only for pulling a wagon for hay rides in the fall and limited snow plowing. My tractor is not restored, it has several other "non authentic" features because I am more concerned with function than form and cannot afford a new tractor.

Frank, thewse are the cats meow. You need to build some kind of box affair for them to sit on on your tractor, but I have one on an M and a 560, and I really like them. Good luck, Harley

I am looking for just the right seat to put on my MV myself. The orginal seat is long gone. The off the shelf hi back seat that is on it now is even equiped with a seat belt.

I would like to find a seat like the one on my 706. I think that it would make me feel more secure and safer when I am way up there on that tractor.

those new seats are junk and you won't be happy. Most of the time the original seat is the best option yet if it is rebuilt properly.

Frank - Most any kind of seat can be adapted to an old tractor with a bit of ingenuity.

I've seen 60's era JD float ride(?) stuck on an H, a bucket seat from an old Mustang on an Allis B, and even a high-back Bostrom air ride salvaged from a Peterbilt semi tractor adapted to an Oliver 77 (the owner claims "it's like riding on air"...)

So long as you don't care about authenticity and can figure out a way to mount it, a universal type seat should work fine!
