Hello,

I just bought a 1956 International 300, 4 cylinder gas with loader. I know next to nothing about this tractor and have a couple of questions.

Live PTO? the pto is not on the tractor, I pick it up tomorrow, anything I need to know about it?

2-point speed hitch? what is this, the hitch on the 300 I bought looks like three points to me, can anyone enlighten me?

what service manuals should I buy?

thank you in advance for your help,

bill

Guys, I wonder if that is an industrial 300, I don't think they had a pto or torque but may have had a shuttle clutch, not sure too far back to remember.I think they were built for a backhoe, should have been painted yellow originally I think ugh! losing it drawing a blank.

Most had live pto, they were still available with the transmission driven ones. They were available without fast hitch. Yours either has fast hitch with a 3-point conversion, or if not orignally equipped with fast hitch, it has an aftermarket 3 point.

Is the live pto available with the tractor? You most likely have a 2 point hitch 300's were made with them. Does it have a torque amplifier? Power steering ( this is probably the most important ) these little tractors took some real muscle to turn with a loader on 'em. You might want to get a shop manual and an owner's manual, both are extremely helpful. Have fun with it!!!
