I live in SW Wisconsin, and wanted to pass on a warning. I had the serial number tag on a 1953 Super M I bought removed by someone. The serial number was 30006 or very close to. Be very cautious of a tractor near this serial number for sale, and if anyone would happen to run across something like this at a show I would like to know. I am afraid someone will pass the buck on another tractor without a serial tag. It was stolen from a parts tractor at Hundt Implement in Cashton, WI, sometime in the first week of September. Thank you, and I wanted to make sure no one would buy a Super M with a phoney serial number tag.

Hi Tim, Sorry to hear you had your serial tag stolen from one of your tractors. I have my serial numbers memorized. One day last year I was traveling north on Rt#22 in upstate NY, and just north of a little town Salem, Ny I saw some old Farmall tractors sitting outside a steel building. I stopped to say hello to the old gent working outside the building. We got to talkin about tractors a some different things and he asked me what I had for tractors, and I told him. Then he asked me if I knew the serial numbers of my machines and I rattled off my serial numbers for him. Well, he said if I knew my serial numbers I had just gained entry into his collection! Well Tim, I have never in my life seen a collection like this man has. Every red tractor you could think of, mostly all restored that took awhile to go through that building! Then he tells me he has a real treat for me in the next building. He opens up the doors and I couldnt believe my eyes. Im talking a building loaded with some original International trucks with hard rubber molded tires, open cab design, Im guessing 1920 vintage and earlier, all restored. What a day I had, all because I had my serial numbers memorized. Have a good day!

they now make original looking serial number plates and you can have your serial number stamped on it.....maybe we should all take note of this, and write down our serial numbers, in case someone steals our tags ....maybe write down all the casting codes too, in case they take the tractor also

I have my equipment serial number recorded - written down. I hadn't thought of recording the casting numbers. Thats's a very good idea.

Thanks,

Gene

I would record the casting numbers and write down what the casting is(transmission ect.)....I would guess that many stolen tractors are parted out....you might not get your tractor back, but it would sure give the prosecutor a good case
