You asked for the picture Allan so I got my brother the take the picture and my daughter to figure out how to post it. She is a beautiful 560 and runs the best. I can't imagine ever getting rid of the girl. The tach registers 3600 hrs but it can't be verified. She needs new rubber but she did win that 8,500 lb tractor pull and if she didn't a green tractor would have. Every thing works great and she needs a loader. Lance

That's a beaut! I concur with Allan and would not paint it--use 'er as is. There's something "right" about seeing a fine classic in original, straight condition. Besides, if you paint it, you'll fret about scuffing it. Heck, these things were made to use and not ride around on a trailer from show to show!

Nice looking 560, looks like you got a lot of tractor for $2750. Looks like its got a good heavy duty IH wide front.

Allan, I went to a Spring farm equipment consignment auction near livermore, IA on a snowy April morning in 2003. There was a set of good 15.5 tires mounted on good rims for my other 560 Diesel. The rims on mine were rusted badly and the tires would be a plus. The 560 was not even listed on the sale bill. I never got a chance to bid on the tires before they were out of my range. But then I fell for the temptation to bid on the 560 when the bidding was about to end at $2,300. You just can't let someone steal a 560 diesel like that so I tried to bid it up a little. I tried to stop bidding at $2,650 but the auctioneer twisted my arm to bid $2,750 after the other guy bid $2,700. "You're not going let this tractor go over a fifty dollar bill are you, " he said. There was a pause and somehow against my better judgement and the prospect of having to tell my dear wife I found myself nodding my head instead of shaking it NO!!!!! I absolutely was not going to go higher than $2,750. All of a sudden I had to do some real explaining to my wife when the gavel dropped and I was introduced as the new owner of this fine tractor. If I only knew the true condition of the tractor I would have gone up to maybe $3,500 on this tractor. I have pretty good judgement after the fact (Monday morning quarterbacking). The 560 gets the best of the best treatment when it comes to maintenance and I never abuse my equipment. I never like to operate machinery outside of the envelope of design and purpose. Now I still have to restore my Dad's old 1960 560 Diesel which is a real basket case. My wife isn't too interested in that venture!!

Always bugs me, don't know why, but to me, the wheels on that 560 are "reversed". I prefer to see 'em dished OUT, not in. Personal preference I suppose, but I NEVER saw one in my country dished in...Cmore

I just never got them dished out since I bought it that way. I think the previous owner had them dished in because of 30" rows. I will change them when I get a chance. I drove the tractor 45 miles to that tractor pull, pulled a 4x14 #60 plow for about an hour and then won the tractor pull with those tires and 35# under my weight class. It will probably be on my estate auction some day. My mom and dad both died at age 90 and I'm only 55 so it could be a while.

Hey Cmore!

Yeah, you're right. But we gotta cut him a little slack, he's got 'em reversed so he can haul the gizmo with a little less hassle.

Plus, these tires are loaded and oh, what a pain they are to change back the other way when they are heavy like this.

My 666's wheels are dished in too. It was used mainly as a stall cleaner for the past number of years, and having the rears dished in let it fit thru the barn door (just). I'd reverse them, but yeah....a PITA when they're loaded. Pics are in the tractor photos on the left.

Aw.....

You're yankin' my heart out with that one! What a perfect poster child for a 560! That's the way they are supposed to look when they are set up to work. :>)

Don't mind telling you that I'm a wee bit jealous of you and your tractor. You own a true farm classic in this muscle-bound old beast!

I wouldn't change a thing; not the tires, I wouldn't paint it, I wouldn't do nottin' to it. I think you somehow found a right-out-of-the-field authentic 560 and those are the really pretty ones.

Lance, do you lock that tractor up at night? :>)

Allan
