Hello all, I"m hopeing you all can help me and an old friend"s family out. Two weeks ago I lost a dear friend. My neighbor, and friend passed away from kidney cancer. Several years ago I began repairing my grandfathers John Deere R and noticed the restored red tractors in his driveway. Over the last several years we spent hours talking about old iorn. We entered our tractors together in the parade two years ago and won ourselfs a blue ribbon. I will truly miss him. I now need some serious advice and direction from you all. I was contacted by one of his family members about identifying what tractors he has and putting a value on his machines. His wife now has debt that needs taken care of and his tractors will need to be sold. I hate to see it happen but it sounds like it must happen. I dont know much about farmall tractors or their value. I will list everything I know about the 4 he has.

Model #F30, Serial Number (FB21300HA)Fully retored with all of the decals. It has new tires all the way around. The tires have never seen field work. Runs exellent.

Model #F20, Serial Number (FA7928ON) Fully restored with all decals. It has matching rear tires that I would guess at half wore. The front tires are new and in exellent shape. Runs exellent.

Model #F14, Serial Number (FS129472) Fully restored with all decals. It has matching rear tires that hold air but are weather cracked pretty bad. The front tires are matching as well but are also weather cracked. Runs exellent.

Model #FCUB, Serial Number (15576) Fully restored with all decals. It has exellent matching rear tires and exellent non matching front tires. Runs exellent.

I need to know an estimate of what these machines are worth. I know its hard to judge without a picture or hearing them run but ANY information will help. Would it be better to try and sell them as a set or individually? Are any of these machines rare? I generally do not know much about these machines and would again apreciate ANY information you can give me. Thanks so much in advance.

Unfortunately, you are going to get all kinds of answers. I have heard of Cubs selling for $3000+. Not worth that much to me, but I'm not the one doing the buying or selling. In my mind the Cub should bring the most money (worth it or not), followed by the F30, with the F20 and F14 being worth less. The link is to an auction place that specializes in old tractors, etc. Have not done business with them, and don't think he would do an auction with only a few tractors -- they have a list of "sold" prices -- or give them a call and ask for advice. They should have a pretty good idea.

CNKS, I have attended a few of Nixon's auctions, they seem to be very proffesional as well as fair. One auction I attended had only 5 tractors, but there was also a large variety of related items which made it worth their time. Pretty much guaranteed they will get the highest dollar possible.

Hi Jason, I saw a restored Farmall F30 advertised
in the Lancaster PA Farming Journal for $5000.00.
They also had a restored 10-20 McCormick-Deering tractor for $3000.00. These tractors are becoming scarce and that increases their value.
The same thing applies to automobiles.

Rusty's idea of an auction may be a good idea, people get a little wild with their bidding at auctions. I would take pictures of
the tractors and post them on here. Any spare parts too. It would cost anyone a lot of money and time to restore one of these tractors at today's prices. Good Luck, Hal

Not to be picky or anything, but just because someone is asking $5,000 for a tractor does not mean that is what it is worth. Asking price and selling price are two totally different things.

Hi Jason, That has always been true, but it depends on how much someone may want something.
Some people price is no object when it comes to purchasing an item. You may be surprised what these tractors will bring.

I attended an auction where a house was being auctioned as is. It sold new in 1967 or
1968 for $27000.00. At auction it brought $270000.00. It needed a few repairs too. Hal

It's a pretty tough call to place a value on something I can't see, and I'm not sure it would be fair to do so. Let me ask a question, along with the tractors your friend had, did he also have an assortment of spare parts? If so, I think your best answer here would be to contact an auction company in your area. Be sure to find one that specializes in old tractors, machinery, etc. This is usually the most fair way for both seller and buyer.
