I just bought a what i think is a 51 Farmall H. The tires on it now are 14x38"s. The guy gave me two new tires that are for 11x38 inch rims. Will the 11x38"s fit on the 14" wide rims?

Let me rewrite this more clearly, the new tires say there for 11" rims, the old ones say there for 14" rims, i'm pretty sure these are the original rims on it. What size tires should a 51 H have on it? May my confusion have something to do with the tire sizes changing? Or did the guy just give me some new rubber that's not for this tractor? Sorry if i confused anyone :p

If it has the original rims, then my post below will answer your question. Your tractor probably has 10 or 11 inch rims on it, 10's are more likely, since many were equipped with 11-38 (12.4-38) tires. I have a 41 with 13.6's, they look ok, when I "restore" it, I will use 12.4's. By the way, the actual size of the tire did not change, just the way it is measured. A 11-38 tire means 11 inch tread width, 12.4-38 means 12.4 inch cross section at the widest point. The tires are identical.

after looking at both tires it turns out that only one of them had 15.5's on it, the other one is the correct size. How the old owner got a 15.5 on an 11" rim I have no clue..... ...thanks for the help!

I didn't know there was a 14-38, there was a 14-34 -- but if you say so I won't argue. If you indeed have 14 inch rims and the tires are 11 (old size), or 12.4 (new size), I think the rims are a little too wide. If your current tires look oversized on the rims, you have smaller rims. Only my opinion, others will have different opinions. Common factory rim sizes on the H were 9, 10, and 11 inch, for 10 (11.2), 11 (12.4) and 12 (13.6) inch tires.

Hi There was 13.6, 14.9 they were usually on the M's and 15.5 tires on the Super M's. Just what I have seen around at the farm shows and antique pulls that I have been to. Usually 12's on the H's.
