I'm working on a carb (zenith type) for a Farmall C. The instructions with the rebuild kit give different adjustments for different series of carbs, but I can't figure out what series I got. Right now it is about 1 3/8" but what should it be? See picture of where I'm at.

One more question, what do I use to seal the threads where the fuel line fitting screws into the carb?

Service Manual says 1 5/32, you are at 1 12/32. The top of the float should be roughly horizontal. Measurement is with the gasket installed, can't tell if yours is or not. If you don't use the tractor a lot, it is hard to keep the plugs clean as there is no main jet adjustment. In which case you might want to use more than 1 5/32, but probably not that much.

The paper that came with the rebuild kit says to measure without the gasket and it does list 1 5/32" for one of the series.

All I have seen say to measure with the gasket. They tend to run rich anyway, at least mine does. Measuring without the gasket will result in a higher fuel level, which will make it richer. Just set it at 1 5/32 with or without the gasket and see how you like it.

I've set my Super C float to specs, and it still runs a little rich, requires no choke to start, and seeps gas from around the float bowl gasket if I leave the gas on. I think I'll lower the float level a little as CNKS suggests.

Good luck,
Bill

Good advice, especially since the fuel shut-off doesn’t work.
