My M has been setting for quite awhile. Started putting oil in and so far have added 9 quarts. Still has not run out of bottom indicator on left side. It is only supposed to hold 7 quarts, right? So-where is it going?

They are on the left if you are standing in front of the tractor looking at the Farmall emblem, LOL

Your M holds 8 qts of oil. check your drain cocks. Are they pluged up?

With 9 quarts, open the top oil gauge valve. Bet oil will stream out.

Hi Bob, I would check that bottom indicator to be sure that it isn't plugged with sludge or dirt.
My IH manual has the oil capacity at 8 quarts for a Farmall M. Hal
