Hy-Tran fluid question

My IH owners manual on a 1957 350 Diesel says to replace the TA and transmission fluid with 10W oil and a friction modifier (one quart per four gallons 10W). Is Hy-Tran the new substitute for the 10 weight motor oil that is recommended in the original book?
If so, what oil should be used in the rear compartment of the IPTO? The book says 2 quarts straight "Torque Amplifier Transmission Lubricant Modifier". Same goes for the Power Steering pedistal? Thank you in advance for input.
This is a Farmall 350 Diesel (Continental 193), TA, 3 remotes, Fast Hitch, Power Steering.

When I first got my SMTA a few years back it had heavy oil in the transmission and had probably been changed at the factory. WhenI redid the ta i changed to Hytran at the advice of folks on this board. Was told that Hytran should be put in all the places where oil went except the engine. I use it in hydraulics, transmission and pto box.

Great picture! That's probably what they are specifying in the old owners manual; saying to add it to 10W motor oil. My question is: is this additive necessary now that HY-Tran is available? Does the Hy-Tran replace what this modifier did to the 10W motor oil? I think I will use the straight Hy-Tran Ultra unless someone else has input. Should I use gear oil or something else in the 2 quart Independent PTO rear box?

I would use Hy-tran Ultra. It has all the additives needed for your 350. If its good enough for a new Magnum its good enough for a 350.

IH sevice manager told me I could use HY-Tran in my M if seals were good. Used the HY-TRAN,no problems.

Hy Tran was III item in the progression of SMTA and later tractors. Regular gear oil, followed by 10 W + secret ingredient, and finally Hy Tran. That's the way the old IHC mech explained it to me. My nickel Dick Davis
