Gentlemen - I am a long time reader. This is the first time to post however. Thanks to all of ya'll for the great info. I have the pleasure of escorting my wife to a convention in Memphis in about a week. We live in the Amarillo area. One of my rewards for escorting her is I get to look at "OLD IRON" along the way. Could ya'll tell me please if there are any museums, etc. along this route (I-40)
that are worth stopping to see. BTW - I have the SC I was raised on & Dad's
SM & (don't yell at me) DC Case, both of which he bought new, & one SC I bought a few years ago. Lanky

Lanky,
I do apologize in advance, because I don't know of any museums or shows between Amarillo and Memphis. I have been stationed here again in Clovis NM for the second time. Just wondering if you know of any tractor clubs/shows in the Panhandle or Eastern New Mexico? We have an old farm near Waco, and I will most likely be commuting back and forth from here to the farm. Would like to get involved in tractor collecting and or restoring if when I have time off from work, or maybe at least attend a show from time to time if there is one not too far away.

later days mate,
Jim

If you are at your place near Waco next weekend, 10/1,2&3 there is a show in Temple, TX at the Temple fairgrounds. See link below. Am going myself. Planned on it for a year.

Do they still have the show/gathering over at the Speegleville Store? I remember in the early 80's that they would send out the flyers. There were some steam tractors and engines along with all the others. Never did make it to the show, but saw a lot of the equipment that was there prior to and after the show. Seems like there was always something that I had to do on that weekend and couldn't get there to see it.

Jim

Crusader, Thanks for the response. The only club I am aware of in the Amarillo area is the Two Cylinder Club in Amarillo. To the best of my knowledge they are a green only club. There is what I belive a major show in Pampa later this year. I have info on it that I cannot find right now. Will find it & post later. I have heard about a club in Plainview that has a annual show but have been unable to find out anything on them. I also understand there is a very nice show in Portales, but I do not know anything about it either. I just reread what I have written. It is apparent to me that I don"t know much.

I subscribe to Antique Power, which covers all makes. They put out a separate publication each year listing the shows. In the Amarillo "area", there are several shows. Two still to come this year: Sept 4-5, Gainesville 800-689-7861; Sept 18-19, Pampa 806-669-9807. There was one in Henrietta in April. By the way, Antique Power is a good magazine, enough IH stuff each month to make it worthwhile. It is a good companion magazine to Red Power Magazine, perhaps a little better written.

CNKS Thanks for the response. I too subscribe to Antique Power. Find it a very good read. Have not looked lately at the show listings- put them on my computer calender- computer crashed a couple of weeks ago & I lost all & I forgot what all was there. Can't resist this ( I am smiling ) It is now Sept. 26. The Gainsville & Pampa shows are both over & Gainsville is almost 400 miles from here. BTW Thank you & the many others for all the great info that you regularly post on this board. Would like to know more about Red Power Magazine.

You mean July and August are over already?? Guess I just looked at Sept-on, and forgot the date. The two magazines are somewhat similar -- of course Red Power has more Farmall info. Not a criticism, but Antique Power seems to be higher quality. The link has subscription info, hope it doesn't come up as the Ladies Home Journal or something, considering my earlier mistake.

As to Gainesville, that's why I put Amarillo "area" in quotes, at least it's still north Texas -- got my 1st speeding ticket there. I'm from south Texas -- probably 600 miles from AMA, currently in Garden City, KS for the last 32 years.
