I bought some 4 inch sleeves & pistons from Ebay for my Super MTA. The pistons are the same as my old ones but the outside diameter of the new sleeves is a lot smaller. My old sleeve walls are about an 1/8 inch thick and the new ones are maybe a 1/16 thick. Whats going on? Anybody got a part no. for the right sleeve? Thanks, Rick.

What you recieved is an "overbore" sleeve and piston set for a Farmall M, not a super M. The standard bore size for an M is 3 7/8", using the overbore kit, you could install 4" pistons, giving it the same horsepower as the later Super M, except the super M had 4" pistons to begin with, and could be equipped with an overbore kit which would allow 4 1/8" pistons.

That explains why the new pistons didn't have any markings on them like the factory ones did. So I just need a standard 4 in. sleeve for a Super M. Thanksfor the info!

Since you have the overbore kit for a regular M and need a set for a SM, would you be interested in selling the ones you have? Tim

I sure would! The sleeves look great, with very little wear. Pistons look good, good rod bearings, no rings, email me if you're interested. I was gonna put 'em back on Ebay but I'd much rather help somebody out here since ya'll have helped so much!
