Went to change the oil in the M and the plug twisted out of the pan with the surrounding metal. So, I am stuck for now. Can rings/threads be welded back on to the pan? Looks like, if I took the pan off and flattened the hold, I might be able to weld it back into place. Anybody have a good way for fixing this problem? Is there a drain cock available that I could fit into the hole? Can a guy buy a used oil pan with a plug in it somewhere? Thanks.

Should be fixable. I've seen an oil pan brazed all around the drain plug like someone had the same thing happen.

cut a pipe coupling in half put the plug in it loose put argon in the crankcase and heliarc the coupling in place , the argon will prevent any fire .

My first thought would be take a black pipe copler and cut it in half. Weld a new floor in your pan. Might be theaded inserts better than the coupler you just have to shop around and scratch your head.
