Those who seem to be in the know say the F-20 had more power than the regular it replaced. According to C.H. Wendel they had the same bore and stroke! They were also tested at 1100 rpm again according to Wendel. Where did the increase in power come from?

Farmall F 20 Test# 276, 27.84 belt hp, 20.66 db hp, 2927 max lbs pull @ 2.51 mph, test wt 4310 lbs, 657 lbs fuel consumed per hp hr @ rated belt hp.
Farmall F 30 Test# 198, 32.80 belt hp, 24.85 db hp, 4157 lbs pull @ 2.24 mph, test wt 5990 lbs, 742 lbs fuel consumed per hr @ rated belt hp.

All three tractors were burning distilate fuel and on steel wheels.

I would say the two biggest reasons are the improved carburation, and increased compression.
