Hi, I just aquired a 1950 White Demo C. It was repainted many years ago red. I powerwashed it. 60% of the white paint is showing. The underside of the sheetmetal never was repainted. It runs real well, has original Check style rear tires, an original Sickle mower that still shows N0.37 on it., set of cultivators, and a front mounted snow-plow. It is as original and strait as can be. Out of curiosity, what is this package worth? How many C's were white demos? Are there any websites with any Demonstrator information. I can't seem to find very much. Thanks for any input!!
-Rob

I have a white demo C that I repainted red. Accepted serial number range is 47010-54411, or about 7400 assembled, not exactly rare. Built in the 1st quarter of 1950. The only difference in a C and a white C is the color -- so I don't know why they would be worth more, but some people seem to think they are. IH built Cub's Super A's and C's as part of their "mid-century promotion", or something like that. Objective of course was to call attention to their tractors. They were supposed to be painted red by the dealer before sale to the farmer, a few probably escaped. There really isn't anything more to say about them. Get Guy Fay's Letter series book, pictures are in it. Basically, wheels, lights, air cleaner cap, distributer, and seat are red, everything else white. Not very attractive to look at, which is why mine is red -- to each his own, only my opinion.

All Farmalls are white. Dealers paint them red to hide that fact. Oh ya! International Harvester was in on this deception also. That's why there are no documents, pictures, or ads showing white IH's. International liked the idea that we thought they were red. Now the truth is starting to come out.

Your best source of info will be right here on Yeserday's tractors. Search through the archives, or just stick around, eventually you will learn what you want to know. (you may even learn more than you want to know) As far as value, if you are satisfied with what you paid, then the price was fair. Somewhere there is such a thing as a "blue book" for old tractors, but I wouldn't put much faith in it.
