Have spark at plugs, but no gas. Carburator seems to be ok. Took carburator of another H and have the same problem. It seems as if the gas is not being sucked up into the intake manafold to the spark plugs. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You.

Get a can of starting fluid, hit the starter and just squirt the fluid at the air cleaner. If you have good vacuum, you'll see and hear the mist being sucked in. If not, I'd disconnect the air intake at the carbureator and squirt a couple of more shots of starter fluid in there while cranking. Be careful to not overdo the starter fluid thing, but my H will always fire on the fluid if I have spark and compression.

You can check compression quickly by pulling a plug and holding a finger tightly over the hole. When you try to start it, the compression should blow your finger away from the hole. Good idea to keep the magneto grounded while doing this check.

Many times it is helpful to have an extra pair of hands or feet to hit the starter for you.

Hi Tom, Check the intake manifold to make sure
that it is tight. Place your hand over the
carburetor as Magman suggested, there should be
suction on your hand when the engine is cranked.
I would check the compression on the engine too.
Hal

Try putting some gas directley into the cylinders. I use a left over syringe. Mine just kept on running after that. But do check for an obstruction in the intake!

Is the bowl filling up with gas? Is there suction at the carb intake when you turn it over and say put your hand over the hole? Is the govener tang hooking up right on the carb? Just a few things I can think of Or maybe a nest in the intake? JON
