What is the recommended battery for a Farmall 350 Diesel, 12V? Looking at descriptions at interstatebattery.com, a model 27F looks to be close to the right size. At some point in the past, an undersized battery was put in the box that is now dead and it is time to break down and get a new battery!

I just installed an Interstate 950 CCA group 31 MHD into the SM that I"m overhauling for a guy. Lots of reserve power to get it started. I also replace both cables with 2/0 cable so I can get all the power from the battery to the starter. The Interstate group 31 is the same battery that most over-the-road trucks use. I feel that a Ag tractor battery needs to take the vibration that it will get while riding around in a tractor. There is room in the battery box so why not use it. The bigger battery only cost a few $$$ more and there is nothing worst than a tractor that won"t start when you want to go for a ride. My nickles worth, MN Charlie

check IH dealers if you want a good battery that will last for years to come.I learned from experince . most batteries only last 2 1/2 years at the most.

JRB,

I agree; as with most anything, you get what you pay for.

Stay away from Wally World, the farmer quick stops and the auto parts stores. Go to a big-three auto dealer or ag dealer.

When buying a battery, I grit my teeth, bite my lower lip, wipe the tear from my eye and buy the biggest, heaviest, most expensive "name brand" I can find.

Like you say, those cheapos will have you looking at your wristwatch every 2 years, pacin' the floor & just waitin' for 'em to die.

The good ones will always last 7 to 10 years. It is just a question of how often a fellea wants to replace the silly things, I guess.

Well, I have local access to Interstate Battery dealers and auto parts places galore, whereas CNH is not local. Anyway, I was just hoping someone would mention the battery size, either in terms of the physical size (i.e. 27F) or CCA (i.e., 600) so I can make my buying decision from there.
