Kind of like the new format, but then I am on broadband and I can see it being slow on dial up. Other than that....tried to post a reply and it ask me to log in...register? I kind of liked that anyone that stumbled across this site, like I did a couple of years ago, can post a question and get very knowledgable answers without doing the "big brother" thing.

I also like the new format. I have been on many other sites that use a similar look and it is very handy and user friendly once you get use to it. I am all for it.

I like the old one just fine, i can find myself around, i went to the other one and got sort of lost, i'll just keep using this one, The other one is just like the redpower one, kind of confusing.

I like the new format- it puts all the "recently replied to" messages at the top of the forum page.

I don't know, it just seems to me that no one can leave anything alone. Why do we have to constantly change formats, change versions, etc. etc. As far as I'm concerned it's fine as is.

I've been using this vbulletin software on another board for quite a while now and it really is easier and faster to use than the old style.

One thing that I like about this is that you can glide your mouse over each thread and read a little bit of it without opening it. If it's not of interest, you can move on. The other nice thing is that the more active and current topics stay close to the top so you don't have to go searching through days or weeks of topics to find your post. Posting a picture is easier too.

As for performance, I am also on dial-up and didn't notice any difference. Like was stated before, maybe this test-forum is a not fully functional yet?

As with anything, a lot of folks are slow to change. I remember my grandmother wouldn't learn to use a push-button telephone because it was different than the rotary dial she'd been using since they were invented. She was intimidated because it looked different. As for the new forum, it really is quicker and much more versatile if you just take the time to really see how it works. Saying you're too old to learn something new is just an excuse. I learn something new every day.

I hope the switch is made, but if not, I'll still keep coming here as the information is so valuable.

Sam :)

Try closing down those other 2 browsers, it should speed up.

Nothing against Kim's hard work but I'm not for it a bit. It seems slower on my dial up what I tried of it, and it seems more confusing and too many clicks to get where I'm going. I say leave well enough alone. This is my favorite forum on the net and if it changes I don't know how much time I'll be spending here anymore. I'm all for change when I think it's good, but I don't think this is one of those instances. Just my .02 cnets.

My two cents worth probably doesn't mean much, but the new forum is so slow on my dial up that if it is switched to the new format, I'll probably have to take up watching TV again.
No DSL(that I can afford) or Cable Modem here in my area, so I am stuck with 56k Dial Up.
Although I don't post much, I have spent many hours on this site reading and learning over the last couple of years..... it's the first thing I do in the morning and the last thing at night, but that may end soon..... .it would soon get too frustrating waiting for it to load.
I can't comment on the other aspects of the new forum....too slow to get very far into it and learn what its all about.
Gary

I see no reason to go to this new format. The existing one works just fine. If it ain"t broke, why fix it. I suppose I could make the adjustment, but to me it seems more cumbersome. My .02 worth.

Yah! I like it -- the ability to upload an image directly is really welcome.

I agree with other posters that performance is an issue. I spend some time on other sites with similar portals, and I don't see the same slowness. (I wouldn't be surprised if the new system just isn't running on the production hardware.)

Not looking to start a flame war, just my $0.02.

nah, what little I've piddled there so far it sucks, too slow, too many statistics, too many mouse clicks to see what you want to see. Maybe it's just me. I want all the threads in a list and all posts on any thread provided on the second click. I don't know if I'm unique but pretty much the only forum on YTMAG I visit is the Farmall Forun. I only seldom use the rest and I can struggle with that when I need to. I also use the classified and photo ads and they work OK.

I'm sorry, but that's simply not true. It takes no more clicks to get to a thread with all the posts in it on the new site than it does here. From the home page, click on the forum, then click on the thread. All posts in the thread are displayed, unless the thread is particularly long, at which point the thread is split into multiple pages.

It really irks me when people reject change simply because it's change. Change CAN be positive, and in this case, it is.

I read both types of forums. For dial-up users the old type (this one) is faster, hands down. I have actually dozed off waiting for RPM to load.
