I have an old H that seems to idle fine but when it is put under a load will die. It has a rebuilt governor on it and the carb has been built. Had a lot of problems with dirt and trash getting to the carb screen but seemed to fix that with an inline filter. Any help and ideas would be greatly appreciated so I can get this overgrown pasture cut and the wife off my rear.

I have a W-4 (same engine). Your symptoms can lead you in a number of directions. I had problems with it carboning up and fouling the plugs. I changed to a hotter plug and it solved the problem.

Thanks for the answers guys. I've done the carb adjustment numerous times with no luck. I have also just replaced the plugs and have looked at them since they were installed, they looked ok. I was given the suggestion to look at the points (this has been converted) and they are pretty bad so I'm going to get a set tomorrow and pray.

Sounds to me like the mixture screw on your carb needs adjustment. I think the correct setting is 2 1/2 turns out, but confirm this with www.farmall-h.com before setting.
It"s either that or your needle & seat aren"t working properly and not letting in enough fuel to keep it running under load.. i"ve had that problem before.
