We pulled the head on our H today.Have never been able to get it to run right always seemed to have a miss. If you pulled the plug wire from each plug while motor was running it would be noticable at each cylinder, A comp check showed 90# at each cyl. We noticed a little water in the oil.Upon examing the head we found a visable crack from one of the water holes to a stud bolt hole. This could account for the water in the oil but would it make the tractor miss also. It could be the head has more cracks but after finding this one we hate to spend the money for cleaning and maxnuflux. Are there used or rebult heads available. Thank you for your time in reading this.

Also, if you got a used head it may not be as good as the one you have now. And a rebuilt one will cost more!!

Hey, I have been throught this before. Take the head off and have a valve job and have it magnifluxed, all of the cracks repaired, have the head milled, new valve seals if needed. All this cost me $260, a lot of money, but it runs like new now.

The crack in the middle of the head won't hurt any thing. It won't let water into the oil.

I used to feel that I needed to "save" tractors. Then I found out that the sum of the parts on a tractor is usually about twice what it is worth, sometimes more. Now I buy them to part out and keep the parts I want for my own projects. I am not saying it is right or wrong, just a thought.
