Jumped in the old truck and went into town this morning a got a used female coupler for this receiver ($15).

Cleaned it up, slide 'er in there and the thing works slick er'n a sock on a rooster now.

Don't you felleas ever get tired of being right all the time? :>)

Glad you got it going Allan. Sorry I didn't get back to your post on the 986, been busy. Anyway, the main problem with those shifters, there's just too many moving parts to wear out and get loose. The thing I hate most about them, they are a pain to work on. You need to remove the seat assembly, which is probably right around 100 pounds, and hardly fits over the steering wheel and out the cab door. Once you get that far and try to pull the range trans. cover, the reverse shift fork falls down, since they went to a one-piece shifter shaft. Then you need to drain the oil and fish that fork out. You get the picture, with the 86 series, all they cared about was operator comfort. Anyway, who knows on the engine. Main problem on the 400 series was cavitation, if it was well-maintained, could go way over 10,000.

Hi TP!,

No, its an old 686 that was completely and totally hailed out.

Spent wayyyyy y too much money on 'er but I rebuilt it from the garage floor up and made her new again.

I kinda like the old heifer; it is fun to operate.
