Calcium filled rear leaking at stem...

I have a rear calcium filled tire leaking slowly at the stem. It appears to be coming from the core, although it is difficult to tell for sure. Are these special cores? Just wondering if they are anything special as I want to replace the core to try to stop the leak before doing any further damage to the rim. Hopefully it is not the tube leaking and just appearing around the stem, but that is a possibility.

more likely the tube is leaking inside but you can try changing the core

By the looks of my already rusty rim I fear you may be correct. However, I just bought the tractor, and don't know the history of the problem, other than it did not appear to be leaking the first few weeks I had it. Actually the rim is not in good enough condition to re-use if I have to have it repaired. Not an easy task as they are 15.5-38's. I probably should start trying to find a used rim, and a local tire guy who will come out, as I know I cannot handle one of these by myself.

yes they are different and it will cure the problem by replacing the core.i had one leaking years ago and a buddy that worked in a tire shop happened by and says if ya change the core it will quit leakin.they actually have 2 cores,if i remember correctly something about adding or removing fluid!!

Hi, I do not think there's a special valve core used with tires filled with calcium. I had mine filled at a local IH dealer. I would raised the
tire off the ground and rotate the tire until the valve stem is at the top. I would release any air pressure and then install a new valve core.
I had a leak in one of my tires and it was the
tube, they had to remove the calcium so they could
remove the tube and repair it. You're right about
not wanting that solution rusting your rim. Good Luck, Hal
