we just aquired a farmall b but there is no id plate. we were wondering when we're done restoring it what kind of decals should we put on it and what would we call it? it has a large spring type seat that is not like the ones we have seen on other b's, was this a replacement? please help, this is our first tractor and are in love with it.

The spring seat was an update. I have the correct, original type seat on my B, and after 2 miles, I was glad I was home. I understand why they replaced them with a spring seat, but it sure makes restoration a little more difficult.

I know on the Hs and Ms there is a serial on the motor also so you can get a exact or close match to the tag. Unless someone changed out a motor or rearend and I guess at some point IH didnt care about matching the two like they did in the 30s and 40s JON
