Most people are not trained or choose not to think.

farmallman: I been around here for about 5-6 years now. My guess is you probably got about 10% of the guys in my time. There have been a lot of guys, bought an old tractor for yard work, landscaping a new lot, etc. They get it all fixed up and you never hear tell of them again, until they have problems. There are a lot of guys just plain loose interest. I think a lot of that is caused from buying too large a tractor. You start getting over 50-60 hp and repair bills turn into big bucks, and that sickens many. Lot of big tractors sitting out back with people either unwilling or unable to repair them.

I've been here for a few years also, and have gotten some good advice from Hugh as well as others. I still read most every day, I just don't post very often. This is a great site for tractor advice, or just for shooting the bull.

I need phone numbers man, phone numbers!LOL in reply to Hugh MacKay, 09-09-2004 18:51:18
Soon as I get around to making the 9n useable again and do a bit of repair on the 77 I'll be trying to find one of the those bigger jobs. Actually the 50-60hp range is what I'm aiming for. Loren

Loren: Ah, but you are a committed tractor collector, you already know what you are into. The type of guy I was refering to never really was committed to the tractor preservation idea. He just thought he had a bit of yard work or landscaping he was going to get done for little or nothing. Some of them just plain loose interest in the tractor. I also really have no quarrel with them coming to discussion, then just as suddenly leaving. Many of the type I refer to have no tractor experience. My advice to people like this is keep it under 30 hp, far better to see them with an 8N or SA they love than a 90 hp albatross.
