47. Farmed till I was 40 with all red tractors and still have the 1940 B, 1950 M, and 1973 966 my dad bought new. None are restored, but all are running. I have the 22-36 that my grandfather bought new, a F-12 and a F-20 all that need some TLC to get going again, my younger son has started in the 22-36. I’ve done all my own mechanic work over the years including a major engine overhaul (with modifications) to my 966 and a major rear-end overhaul on my 1486. Currently I’m working with my oldest son on restoring a 1952 GMC pickup that was also bought new by my grandfather. My wife says I can’t ever throw anything away but I don’t know were she gets that idea from! HA!

KIP you mentioned "the pecos valley" and alfalfa/cotton farming. I grew up in Roswell and moved to Texas in 1959. Where did you live in N.M. and do you plan on moving back? Thanks, Keith

Hey, Keith. I grew up in East Grand Plains, just outside Roswell. Still have family in Roswell and visit every couple of years. When I move back to the states, it will probably be in southern Missouri somewhere. Good hearing from you.

I'm 23, born and raised in Beautiful Southern Indiana. After going to Purdue for 4 years, I graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and returned home to work for Cummins Engine Company.

Working on My collection of tractors, farming on my own on the side, and constantly looking for additions to the "fleet" keep me busy 24/7.

39 M, 40 M, 41 M, 41 M, 45 M, 47 M, 50 M, 53 SM, 54 SMTA Diesel, and 2 59 560D's.....

And counting.....

Had all of them out for a group picture the other day... I'll post it when I get it developed. Grandpa (who got me started on M's but passed away in 2001) would have been proud. Dad still is.

Born IH Red, and someday, will die IH Red.

God Bless America.

Good luck to you all with your future projects.

I have a 1949 McCormick WD6. She is the same age as I am. I guess when I found this tractor and found out that it was build the same year that I was born I just had to have her, and have enjoyed repairing her. Someday I"ll have to strip the old paint off and give her a new paint job. Maybe I"ll have time in 4 years when I retire from teaching at the local community college.

56 years old and on September 12 I ping ahead to 57. 31 years teaching, 3 years working in an auto shop and farming on the side, up to my ears in projects that seem to never get done, but grease under my finger nails and manure on the bottom of my work boots...sure a contrast from suits and ties although I was a weekend farmer since the early 80's..rope burns and dye on my hands..love those cattle....Mike in Exeter Ontario

I'm 59; 60 in two months.

Half of my teeth are gone from my spouting off to too many cowboys, I've got one arm that is permantely bent at a 90 degree angle from reaching for my wallet while working on old tractors and I'm knock kneed from dodgin' rattlesnake strikes.

Can't hear at all from either ear, nose has been broke 3 times and one eye was put out when I was younger (again, by a da~ned blasted cowboy).

My heart skips a beat about 40 times a night, my veins are all plugged up, I've got three toes missing on one foot from stepping at the wrong place at the wrong time during the 60's era and my right thumb is completely gone from the first joint down.

My friends nicknamed me "Lucky",

Allan

First off Allen, keep workin on the tractors cause there ain't no fixin that bent elbow. Knock kneed from rattle snakes? I don't think they'd cause that. That's from shakin in your boots worryin bout them cowboys. Heart skips 40 beats! You need more womens lovin cause it should be skippin round about 60 beats I reckon. Can't hear from either ear, that's prolly how you lost them toes, crossin the tracks late at night, when ya shouldn't a been there to start with. That was a close one. Narry a right thumb, that's prolly legit.

When you get through HS then the fun begins. I graduated from Clarkson University in Potsdam NY, in 2002 and let me tell you that college is a heck of a lot of fun! I met some of my closest friends there, learned more then imaginable, and 2 years out of school I make as much as my dad who's been working for over 30 years now. Go to college,... you'll love it!!

P.S. I'm 24 and am in the process of rebuilding the family 53 Super C.

youngster:

I am 50. Got 5 kids. 1 in university, 1 in college, 2 in grade 12 and one in grade 10 (pre-bachelors international).

My wife is going back to school (univeristy) and I am taking French as a second language.

I also went to college, but being the smart a$$ most 17/18 year olds are, I partied hearty during my last semester and blew college. Guess what?

I been bustin me butt for over 30 years trying to raise my family. I coulda been bustin it a lot less and gettin a lot more salary for it ifn I hadn't been a smarta$$ and blew college.

Get your pooh together, get an education and go to college or university. Make something of yourself. Once you have an education and you want to be a farmer or a carpenter, a brick layer or like me a cabinet maker, go ahead. But at least you will have an education to go with whatever you choose to do.

4 more years of school and that sucks???? Nope NOT HAVING 4 more years of school - now that really SUCKS!
