Getting my first H to restore, but having problems

I went over to this farm to clear out the tractor for this Saturdays pick-up. I was able to fill the tires with air in the rears and the left front, the right front bead was broke. We pulled the dead H a little bit until we noticed the left rear tire wasn't turning. The right rear was turning, it was in neutral, pulleys were turning, and the crankshaft was turnable, however it is not runnning at this moment. To make the pick-up easier this Saturday what should I check to fix the stuck left rear wheel so it will roll on the trailer easier?

When I got my first H 10 yrs ago I had the very same problem. It turned out that the brake was stuck (from sitting) and we had to open the brake assembly and free it up before the wheel would turn freely. I think we used a lot of WD40 and oil. Good luck with the H ! you'll love it!

Well I don't have my resotre manual yet, so I do not know where to tackle the brake band on the left side. I have heard this is a solution, but I don't know where to start to get to the brakes on the H. Does anyone have any diagrams that I can use before Saturday on the brake systems?

If they are band brakes, there is a tin cover on the left side, in front of the axle housing - it would be just about under your foot when you are sitting on the seat. You will see that the left brake pedal linkage is connected to it. Remove the linkage and the half dozen or so 9/16 bolts, and the cover will come off. From there you should be able to tell what to do.

Besides a service manual (or two), you will also want to get an operator's manual and a parts book.
