I am doing the pan gasket in my Farmall H. I found 2 cork plugs (crumbling) on the block above where the oil pan bolts to. I was wondering, are those 2 cork plugs necessary or will the pan gasket make up for them? also, should I replace those 2 little felt plugs near the rear main? Thanks!!

John, it's been too long since I worked on an H to remember just where you are atalking about, but IH put cork plugs in practically all the unused bolt holes at the factory before painting to keep them clear.

I would replace all the cork plugs because on the M I have it seals from the block to the main bearing caps
