My H was running kind of crappy lately so I decided to change the points and condenser - fixed her right up. My question is does anyone have any tips for putting those tiny screws back in. I curse them everytime I change the points and condenser. Also does anyone know the size of the nut that holds the condser wire and points to the side of the distributor? Mine seems to be an odd ball size.

even when I was a kid and could still see I always took the distributer or mag off to work on it. Why fight it?

I use a magnetic screwdriver, the type with the interchageable bits, works great. As for the wrench I use one that my uncle had modified with a file years ago. Replacing points seems to get harder every year, must need glasses or something.

You need a new tool, right??
Go to your local supplier or Sears catalog and order a slotted screw starter.
You can also get a phillips style as well.
With them you can put a screw in any positon without dropping.

I have had good luck with a tiny bit of grease on a screwdriver, holds the screw on the end nicely,,Jim

Change them to socket head cap screws. They stick to an allen wrench pretty well. Use a ball driver to tighten them. It looks like the nuts (and all the screws) are 8-32. They did manage to use three different types of screws in there - fillister head, pan head, and round head.

For tight places I sometimes tape the screw to the screwdriver. There is no real easy way. Don't remember the wrench size, I just try until I find one, I think I have all the smaller sizes.
