Thanks everyone for the info. BTW I just bought a IH farmall 140 with a sicklebar mower on it to cut around my fences, I love it and it is what got me looking at Farmalls. I am now looking at acouple of cubs that are for sale local.

Mike

My guess would be SMVTA there were only 64 of these made. Even more rare if there were any made would be a SMDVTA. There are not any records of any being built but it is believed that some were made.

long time collectors are looking for the rarest and most valueable.....the most popular are the ones that would fit in your garage and easy to haul and work on.....such as :the small letter series Farmalls are popular because of the vast ammount of reproduction parts now available

I agree it seems the MTA's are hot. I would say the high crops are always something of a rarity. Also, in certain parts of the country you do not see a lot of wheatlands or standards.

For some reason the Farmall having the greatest increase in value in 2003 was the Stage II Super H. The SMTA & especially the S-MTA-D has been for quite a while quite collectable.

My advice is simple, Collect the ones you find that you can afford. A lot of times the neatest finds are close to home.

If you have the money I would say The MTA, SMTA, I think there is a diesel in there to like MDTA or something these go for big bucks at the auctions. JON

As far as rarity for collecting, I only know of one SHDVTA ever made. It was shown at Red Power Roundup this summer and was a beauty! You probably couldn't buy it. My nickel Dick Davis.

SHDVTA? Surely a conglomeration of a 350 Diesel and Stage II Super H and HV parts put together by an avid collector. Not an official IH product :)
