Yesterday I got in to big of a hurry when I was putting the lid back on my Super C"s transmission and didn"t get things meshed right.

I was so sure that I had done it right that I went ahead and put everything back together. (Steering, battery, seat, 2 point hitch, the whole nine yards)

Today I spent the entire morning tearing everything back down and doing it right this time.

A little less wind in my sail tonight.

Something like this probably has never happened to any of you????

BTDT. When I rebuilt that 1951 H 5 years ago, I got in a hurry installing the liftall pump into the reservoir. After I had the tractor running, I pulled on the lever with no bog down on the engine. Had to remove liftall and remove the pump to find I did not get that hook and eye lined up between the pump and the reservoir.

Being in the automotive business for 25 years has taught me to dedicate one whole clean workbench in which to place every part in a major teardown in the order of its disassembly. This method makes it so easy when reassmbly time comes. Been in business for almost 20 years and this technique has never failed me...yet ha ha.

I thought you really goofed and really paid the price and all you did was gather some more experience; from the school of hard knocks so to speak. I am still a student there. If you read the posts here, there are many fellow alumni present on this forum. It's almost like a reunion.

I once rebuilt the engine on a buddies car, I was just finishing up putting the waterpump on when he says "whats this funny springy thingy" well here he is sitting on the work bench playing with the cam button, I had to tear the whole front end back down and put that goofy lil spring in,,I could have screamed and then killed him LOL,..Jim

Have you ever heard of a "Jesus" nut? No it is not a religeous freak. It is something on a helicopter ,but the term has been adopted to any mechanical disaster where there is one little piece is left over and it is a very important part,"JESUS THERES THAT NUT I LEFT OUT" hence the term ,jesus nut. I believe you found a jesus nut.

Big John,

The first time is practice, the second time is for real, the THIRD time is the goof up.

I will be picking up all my tools and low and behold! there is a part that goes in waaaaay down there in the bottom of whatever I was working on.

I took off the inpection plate for the geardrive on the fuel injector pump, checked what I was looking for and put it all back together, skinning a knuckle or two in the process. So proud that I had all of the bolts where they were supposed to go, all nice and tight. Then I see the GASKET! Sometimes I am just a box of rocks.

I figure I just needed the practice....
