I need to replace the bearings on the side fly wheel on my w-4. I can't get the one closest to the fly wheel off. I am afraid to put a puller on the cast flange to pull it, any ideas?

Thanks again for the help!!

Bob

It's not going to jump off there on its own.

Wayne,

Yes it is the side fly wheel. There is a snap ring and I did remove it. It looks like the snap ring holds the bearing in the casting. (I have a parts manual break down).I just can't budge the thing. The casting is a thin flange that bolts to the housing on the transmission. If I put a puller on it it will break for sure.

Are you referring to the belt pulley drive? Check for a snap ring holding the bearing in place.

I'm not familiar with the configuraton but I'd put a puller of some type, a slap hammer type might be more effective, and add a little heat in appropriate places.
