And if so, what tractor would make a good donor?
Anyone done this before? I don't care about heat or ac or whatver...just shelter/safety provided by a cab.

I know a fellow here that has an 8n ford with a home made cab and it is nice.He used 2"square tubing for the frame and 1/2" plywood for the sheeting, and some plexiglass here and there. His looks like it could almost be a factory cab off a modern tractor. I asked him how long it took to build and he just grinned and said years.

Yes you can. Went to Mid Michigan show 2 weeks ago. Saw two H's with cabs. Not sure if homemade or not hard to tell.

Mark, If you are referring to the Oakley show, I thiink both cabs were home built. There was a company years ago that did build custom cabs for tractors, but I don't know if they now exist.

Tokheim Oil Tank & Pump Co. used to make cabs for H's & M's. I have one that used to be on my Grandfather's H. It has been in storage for over the last 30 years (probably closer to 40). I bought some original sales literature for them off of e-bay awhile back. They cost $148.50 F.O.B from Fort Wayne, Indiana. You had to add an additional $2.05 for a windshield visor and $2.15 for a pair of light brackets. I also received a letter on IH letterhead dated 2-26-46 that was sent out to the dealers discussing the Tokheim cab.
