Mornin'

Found an old 986D yesterday in pretty fair shape.

I didn't crawl up on her, but from all indications, it looks to have somewhere around 4 to 5 thousand hours on it.

Trouble is, is has a cab which I really don't want.

Was just wondering if someone has any ballpark idea what something like this would be worth.

Allan

If it's a factory cab I would say maybe $1000 to $1500. The trouble is on the 86 series the steering coluem and shifting system is part of the cab. You would have to find an open station platform to get the shifting and steering system. You might talk to salvage yards they might trade you the cab for a platform.

Thanks Scott,

But, did ya leave off a zero? I wouldn't be able to find a decent H for that! :>)

I talked to him this morning after I posted.

The guy is asking $13,500 for it and it comes with a huge Dual loader and new 18.4x38 rear tires. And, that's about what I figured he'd want for it.

No, I wouldn't do the "strip the cab" thing. If that is all I can find, I'll have to live with a cab, I guess.

Thanks again,

Allan

My mistake, had it in my mind you were asking for a price on the cab not the tractor. $13500 sounds in line maybe bit high, for a 986 with loader if its in good mechanical condition.
