I put this on the red power website, and thought some of you might get a kick out of it also. Looking for a 1456 tractor for the farm, mostly because dad loved the one he had. Found one at a local sale. It had 9000 hours, but had also had a overhaul, ta and clutch in the last 4-5 years. He mentioned that when they were overhauling it, they found that the hood bottoms were gold. It had been a demonstrator that someone had repainted. The steering support was black, and under each hood was grey primer underneath the red, and a dark gold metalic paint underneath the primer. We bid up to 5500 on it, and it brought 5600. The guy that bought it planned to farm with it, after he gave it back its original color. It was something that we won't come across again.

That sounds like a cheap tractor to farm with with out being a demo.

I agree. We bought our 14 with 500 hours on overhaul and TA and fresh paint for 8500. I would have bidded at least that for a demo, had we known where one was going to be sold before we bought this one. Cheap tractor, sounds like to me. Great buy for a demo. Glad they're popular around here, but sometimes I wish they weren't. Ha ha.

Yea, I don't know. He thought it was running around 180 horse, I was a little worried about the tranny and rear end, maybe I shouldn't have been. Plus, it had the diamond cab on it, which dad and i don't like as well as a year round cab, where you can open it up more. He had a 1206 that brought around 4500, and in the same shape. They were both straight tractors. I thought that 1456 selling for 6000 in Ottumua, with or without a TA was a better buy. Unless a demo really is worth that much more. I think 4800-5200 should have bought the tractor with that many hours. But maybe I am wrong. They are a heck of a tractor, and we probably would have given more than we should have had it been after harvest

The value of 1456s are really taking off. I had to give 9100 for a 70 model a year and half ago. It was low hour(2900) and well maintained.
