I am getting ready to install a piston kit and get a valve job for the old H but I have a problem ,the serial number plate on the tractor is missing but on the side of the block is stamped 6695-DG, below that is stamped 2V and below the firing order is stamped 4-15-K. Is there any other way to I.D. this engine so I can order the kits?

Unless you'r engine has been upgraded.you have a
small journal crank, low compression head with 3/8
studs for bolting manifold to head instead of 7/16. begining at 391358 engine # crank was changed to larger journal.Same as SH.Order pistons for compression that will work best for intended use of tractor. As others say measure
before ordering.

There should be a raised 2"rectangle section above the mag or distributor on the block with the engine serial

The prefix for the engine serial should be FBHM, anyway you have a 1941. But you need to disassemble and measure -- hard telling what's been done to that engine -- serial doesn't mean much.

I was at NAPA inquiring about an engine kit and they said the break point on the kits was serial #391357. Was that the tractor serial number or the engine serial number? The engine serial number on mine 64416 is a five digit number and the other numbers I am looking at are 6 digits. Anyway thanks for the information and I will keep an eye on your post for more info.

H motors to serial #106970 take parts different than motors with serial #106908 through 391357 Then 391358 and up take even different parts. The serial # on the tractor bellhousing should have matched the one on the motor unless either or were changed. So dont wory about the tractor bell housing # the motor serial is what you want. What parts are you looking for I can blow Napas prices out of the water and my parts are good name and waranted. PS where are you from. JON

I am from MO.MagMan. Will the high compression pistons work in my engine or will they effect valve clearance assuming my engine has flat tops because it is a 41 manufacture? What are the prices on your kits?

Email me and let me know if your looking for a complete kit or in frame over hall. Or what you need. The high compression pistons should work fine but you always want to measure becuase you dont know what the last person did as far as shaving the head.

You have a 1941 engine--at that low number, engine and chassis serials were close, they do not necessarily have to match. The last H made was chassis serial 391730, it is possible that at SN 391357 IH started putting the Super H block (164 cu in vs the H 152 cu in) in the last few H's. That was 12 years after yours was built. Measure the sleeves, so that you get the right kit. As to head work, you will farm that out anyway, your mechanic will get the proper parts.
