Are they original or replacements ? All the sheetmetal fasteners (nuts and round head bolts, no washers). In the manuals I have, I haven't found a reference as to what these are made of. Kinda hoping they are supposed to be made of brass. I have quite a few old ones in the nuts and bolts bin.

Zane, the originals were steel. The bigger ones on the hood support and grill mounts were truss head. Others were machine screws.

Brass nuts and bolts will work to replace the original steel nuts and bolts for sheet metal fasteners.

Brass bolts will not work to hold the head to the block.

Zane:

The head bolts I took out of Jethro my 51 Cub, were not brass. I really do not believe that you could torque brass to 45ftlbs without shearing them.
