here is the dilemma, the clutch is not disengaging with pedal, have to start in gear and hit brakes 4-5 times to get clutch to work. once broke loose, works fine until it sits a little while, then must do same thing. tractor has not been moved for about 2wks and have had some rain. adjustment is good, clutch is good, just started this. can overgreasing pilot bearing cause this? seems like the pressure plate is hanging up. any ideas are appreciated

If it is a oily/greasy situation; lock the brakes, put it in 5th gear, run the engine wide open, and slip the clutch for a while.
It may start to smoke if there is a lot of oily residue.
Shut the engine down & put a block of wood between the clutch pedal and the transmission cover.
Best thing to do is remove the clutch and replace witha new one. Then do not over-grease the pilot bearing.

Could be an over greased pilot bearing - grease getting onto the clutch plate.

Next time you get the tractor unstuck. Try riding (slipping) the clutch a bit.

Search the archives. Someone suggested locking the clutch down and spraying the disc with hot soapy water from a small pressure sprayer. Then rinsing with clear water.

I use a clamp to lock down the clutch pedel on a Cub when not in use. I don't know if that is a good idea or not but it works until I have time to break the tractor and replace the clutch.
