Finally finished the 12volt conversion. Let me tell you it was worth every penny. I got the kit from www.geneseeproducts.com It started right up and the wiring instructions were simple. It came with 10si alternator, 12volt coil, voltmeter, wiring harness and brackets. Just thought i would let everyone know how easy it was. electronic ignition is next.

Does the tractor charge at low idle? I have had two conversions that came on tractors I purchased. They never seem to charge at low idle. You have to be at almost full throttle to start charging. If you look at the charging chart on the Genesee website you listed, it shows this problem. I am wondering how they have overcome it or have they.

Thanks,
Brian Schmidt

You need to go the the "Articles" and look up 12 Volt conversions. There is lots of information there for you. You need to pay close attention to the use of the idot light and/or resister applications to excite your alternator. Either one of these will solve your charging problem at slow speed.

GOOD LUCK

I am using that exact wiring shematic to wire my Super A that came with an alternator. I am using the light. Still nothing below fast idle. I removed the light and hooked it directly, left it out, and tried a different light. None seem to have much effect on the charging level. I believe it is just not turning fast enough. But, I am unsure what others are doing that seem to work so well.
