IH calls it a gasket, the part# is 45925DA. Case/IH had it in stock and I picked up two of them but havent installed them yet. They cost $2.38 EA

If you are removing the old packing, 3 or possibly 4 is more like it. Be sure to stagger the openings.

I have had trouble with the current Case-IH packing -- impossible to stop small leaks, even with a new water pump. Currently I am using NAPA's version of the string in the post below. It is better, but still drips some.

Gary,

I don't have a IH dealer near me so I have tried something else I hope will work. I went to Lowes building supply and bought some teflon valve packing about 1/8" to 3/32" in diameter (its in the plumbing section). I am restoring a 1940 H and I hope this will work. I think you can still get it from IH if you have a dealer near you.

Tommy
