I bought a '48 Farmall M thats been sitting 4 years. We cleaned the points and plugs, put in fresh gas and pulled it about 20 before it fired up and ran perfect! I got the starter fixed today and have had it running several times. I drove it about a halfmile down the road & back, shut it off, and it ain't hit a lick since! The points are firing but the spark at the coil wire is real weak, will only jump about a quarter inch. Any ideas? I have never dealt with a magneto before and don't know a thing about them. Thanks, Rick.

What color is the spark? Try a new coil wire first and put it in the coil cap and hold it about 1/4 to 5/16 away from the ground screw on the side blue yellow spark is ok weak yellow and try condenser and coil as sugested. You wont get a real strong Jump from the mag like you will a battery ign. I have parts and rebuilts avalible. JON

Try replacing the condenser, if that doesn't do it, probably the internal coil is going bad.
