Today I came home with a FARMALL MV. Guy Fay"s book says that there were only 1674 made. Is there a formula used to figure how many of any one model might still be in existence????? ?? If you don"t have such a formula I will also except GUESSES.

Farmall MV; Here is a guess. Mfg Feb 1942 thru Mar 1952. Total of 1674 made. 670 went to the scrap pile. 210 are in almost mint rebuilt condition. 794 are in barns or sheds somewhere in the 50 U.S. states and 22 other countries. Look for a couple of the best MV's in Great Britain. Still doing farm work after being reverse engineered by David Brown and the Ford plant in Northern Ireland. Please let me know if the above figures need a little adjusting. Good luck.

Russ: I'm betting you are as close to the right answer as anyone is going to come. Your mathmatics are sensible and look reasonable.

I don't know about old tractors, but in antique cars we used to figure--VERY roughly--about a ten percent survival rate. This may or may not apply to tractors, as that ten percent took into account the WWII scrap drives which ate a lot of cars considered "old" at the time and turned them into products to be used in the war effort.

Steve: I'm thinking that figure would be quite different on tractors. Those tractors were indeed part of the war effort, and everything possible was done to keep them running and producing food.

The other factor would be rust, of which many a car and truck met their demise as a result of that. Not very many tractors fell victim to rust.

My dad has a restored one. There has to be still a lot out there, because he has been trying to sell it and can't get any bites.
Here in NW Missouri, no one had ever seen one before Dad got his. At parades and shows, we heard lots of "they put that together with F-20 drops and the iron pile" Also, Dad likes to tell people (jokingly) that the 'V' stands for 'very tall'
Hope you have as much fun with your's as we've had with ours.

There are only 100 left out there.
99 not counting yours.

This of course is a WAG.
