How hard is it to change the internal spring on the governor - any tricks? Broke it last night and baling wired it back togather to finish loading.

Electrical question - while working on the governor I had another problem. Bolted the cover on jumped in the seat to start and nothing - no click, no decharge reading, no nothing. Pulled the instrument plate wiggled some wires and it started like nothing was wrong for 20 seconds - then it died like the key was turned off. Pulled the plate - wiggled wires (no obvious shorts or anything else) and it started and ran like a champ the rest of the night. Bad key switch?

It has never done this before, I did run the lights for the first time for any extended period (it's dark I go home usually). I didn't run the lights after I got it to start.

If I understand right where the wire you put in is where the spring goes so its the same as what you had to do as far as labor. I would make sure all conections are tight every where starter, Gen Or Alt,Distributor,Switch,And clean anything thats coroded. Then if you still have the problem check the switch or replace I mean. My Two Cents. JON

The governor spring "hooks" on one end and has some type of pin (with a tiny cotter pin) on the other. The "hook" end had snapped off and I baling wired it back to togather (temp). Its the other end that had me a bit confused - when I see the replacement spring it might be clearer.

Somebody might correct me but I think your new spring will hook where the pin goes through unless you get OEM. JON

OEM spring has hooks on both ends for a Super M. I think its the same spring.
