Chances are if you split the trans at the pedestal and replace the front seal and bearing you will quiet the drive train a whole bunch. I have found this several times. Seems like i do at least one a year lately. It is getting hard to find people who understand what makes these little tractors tick.

My grandad just bought a BN, fully restored for 2500, he said the final drive was normally a little noisy, but, I hear a BN is somewhat rarer than a B...???

My Dad bought a B two years ago, just the tractor, nice paint, no starter battery or lights, for $800

Don't know what shape that 5' Woods mower is in, but a new one would set you back the $1500.
