My cousins 460 quit going in town the other day and we thought it was the clutch and then after checking things he tried it and push on the right brake it will go but push on left brake and it stops. What is the problem?? Brake pinion or a broken axle.

My bet is a broken axle on the same side that brake makes it move. Broken flush with the bullpion gear.

Yep, or else the wheel clamps on that side came loose and the axle is spinning in the wheel. Pretty common prblem for an IH.

question-- he has really grabby locking brakes on that tractor. I supposs that this is one of the culprits to the problems that occured. I have a 560 and it has grabby brakes also. If this is what can happen when on asphalt maybe some of us guys should consider getting our brakes to where they are not so grabby
