No clutch parts at local auto parts stores

Yesterday I went the local NAPA and Federated Auto Parts stores to purchase clutch parts for an IH Cub. I was informed by both stores that agricultural clutch parts are no longer available. Neither store had an explanation. The day before I checked the price for an Allis B water pump – the price had jumped about 250% in one year.

Does anyone have an idea why or what’s going on?

I like the local parts stores because of their service and near immediate parts availability - order by 10 A.M. parts here by 2 P.M. Being a rural area they supply parts for farm equipment/farmers. It's 70 plus miles round trip the nearest Case/IH dealer.

I was wondering if anyone else had encountered the same problem. It just seems very strange that two different parts stores in the same town would suddenly not sell agricultural clutch parts.

I guess I'm pretty lucky - our local Case/IH guy is also 70 miles away. But when Case/IH closed down a lot of the smaller dealers, this one committed itself to daily parts runs. If you have your order in by 10ish, you'll have it delivered to your door by 2ish, no delivery fee.

9 times out of 10, I find the best prices at my local Case/IH. Usually they beat the aftermarket by at least 30%, and even the ones on Ebay.
